Sollatek Kenya is a leading provider of power and energy solutions in Kenya, with a wide range of products and services that cater to businesses and individuals alike. As part of their efforts to expand their reach and improve their customer experience, Sollatek Kenya engaged our team to design and develop a new ecommerce website.

The Challenge:

Sollatek Kenya had an outdated website that did not offer the best user experience for their customers. They needed a new website that would be easy to use, visually appealing, and functional for ecommerce transactions. Additionally, the website needed to be optimized for search engines, so that potential customers could easily find their products online.

Key on their website design wish list was the ability of the website to produce top results on SERP’s for any authorized and authentic products, thus fighting counterfeits especially in the Kenyan market

The Solution:

  • Our team worked closely with Sollatek Kenya to understand their business needs and requirements. We started with a comprehensive analysis of their target audience, competition, and industry trends to develop a solid foundation for the website design. We then created a custom design that was optimized for user experience, with easy navigation, clear product information, and a secure checkout process.
  • Assisted the client in developing an e-commerce company website on WordPress CMS that showcased the wide range of power and solar products and has the ability for users to transact (buy & sell) online.
  • Adopted an e-commerce check-out system that enables purchase of products and a custom order form that captures online leads.
  • To ensure the website was optimized for search engines, we implemented best practices for on-page SEO, including proper use of meta tags, headers, and keyword-rich content.
  • Performed a 2-year keywords research report with Google Keyword Tool to identify the most effective keywords based on their industry and products.
  • Created keyword-rich Page titles, meta-descriptions, product descriptions and excerpts for the website to improve on-page Search engine optimization (SEO).
  • Installed and configured key SEO plugins to the WordPress CMS website to achieve Rich Results, Code Minification, a functional Cache System, Lazy loading, Ideal Schema and more. These are RankMath SEO and WP Rocket
  • Developed and integrated custom website forms that capture online requests to report counterfeits and capture qualified leads.
  • All images in the different website pages were scaled and compressed for better user experience when browsing galleries. Product images we also optimized by adding alt tags.
  • Added extra website pages to enhance ease-of-use by website users such as an FAQ section, T&C’s and data/ GDPR policies such as cookie and privacy policies.
  • Observed the brand’s design toolkit by using recommended company colors and fonts.
  • Website security – The website was equipped with a modern firewall with modified rules, SSL certificate and login security plugins.
  • Generated an XML sitemap, submitted both site and sitemap to Google Search Console. We also diagnosed crawl errors from the console and submitted the website for crawl & indexation of both mobile and desktop versions.
  • Integrated Google Analytics 4 to the website by creating a property and connecting Monster Insights plugin for easier back-end access to site analytics.
  • Used online tools such as HubSpot website Grader, GTMterix and Google PageSpeed Insights are a useful starting point for diagnosing areas for improvement and gaining top-level recommendations. With these we improved page-load speeds by reducing the Time to First Byte (TTFB).

 

The Result:

The new ecommerce website for Sollatek Kenya was a huge success. The website is now fully optimized for search engines, and has seen a significant increase in website traffic and online sales. The website also offers a better user experience for customers, with easy navigation, clear product information, and a secure checkout process. Fighting counterfeits has also been achieved by achieving high ranking and authoritative results for their products in brand related searches on SERP’s.
